ABOUT RODENT AND RODENT CONTROL

RODENT CONTROL

If you’ve ever spotted something moving quickly out of the corner of your eye while relaxing at home, or heard an unfamiliar scuttling in the dark, you’ll know it’s mighty unpleasant sharing your home with a rat or mouse. Rodents are especially likely to enter a home when they’re looking for a warm place to sleep, but regular Mortein rodent control measures will send them packing and avoid the need for an expensive pest controller.

First up, keep all food covered to avoid rodents being attracted to it — that includes fruit bowls and anything on the kitchen bench or stove. You should also keep birdcages scrupulously clean. Mice are able to squeeze through holes not much wider than the diameter of a pencil, so quickly seal any gaps you spot, no matter how small, ideally with strong mesh from a hardware store, steel wool or expandable foam.

If you suspect you have a rodent infestation problem, droppings are a sure-fire sign — they look like little black pellets — as are gnawed food and food containers. Check if it was one of the kids nibbling the cakes or a smaller suspect! Listen, also, for strange noises at night, particularly in the roof. Ceiling insulation is often so thick you might not even be aware that rats or mice have moved in until the smell of their defecation begins to hit home.

Rats are nocturnal, so if you see one during the day, it’s likely to be one of many. They also breed rapidly and adapt quickly to changing conditions, so the key is to take action before they spread disease or damage your home.

Mouse traps and rat poison such as in no-touch baits will deal with the issue without too much bother.
